Ms Chowdhury is a highly experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist, specialising in Oculoplastic Surgery. She has over 20 years of experience in this specialist field.

Her main area of interest is dealing with conditions affecting the eyelids and performing surgery for a wide variety of conditions including blepharoplasty, ptosis repair, surgery for watery eyes, removal of eyelid lumps and bumps, excision of eyelid tumours and reconstruction, entropion and ectropion repair.

Ms Chowdhury qualified in medicine from St Mary's Hospital Medical School (Imperial College) in 1997 with an MBBS and a First Class BSc degree in Pathology. She undertook Ophthalmology training in two major UK Ophthalmology training rotations (South Thames London and West Midlands deaneries). Her advanced subspecialist (fellowship) training in oculoplastics was in the South Thames Deanery and in the adnexal department at Moorfields Eye Hospital.

In 2009 Ms Chowdhury was appointed as an NHS Consultant Ophthalmologist specialising in Oculoplastics at the highly rated Trust in Surrey (Frimley Park Hospital). Here she set up and led a thriving oculoplastic service for many years.

Ms Chowdhury enjoys teaching and training. She is a Clinical and Educational supervisor for Ophthalmologists in training. She has trained many Ophthalmologists in both Oculoplastic Surgery and Cataract Surgery throughout her career.

Ms Chowdhury has been an examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists since 2015 and also sits on the examinations sub-committee, examining for the FRCOphth examinations in the UK and internationally.

Ms Chowdhury is now a Consultant Oculoplastic Surgeon at EKHUFT based at the William Harvey Hospital. She joined this Trust in 2019 after having children, as her husband is also a Consultant Ophthalmologist here.

Ms Chowdhury is highly experienced in management of oculoplastic disorders and is committed to providing high quality care and always aims to achieve the best possible outcome for her patients.
