Orchidopexy

An Orchidopexy is a short surgery performed whilst under a general anaesthetic.

Orchidopexy involves a Urologist to make incisions in the groin and scrotum to bring one (or both) testicle(s) down into the correct position. The orchidopexy can either be carried out using open surgery or laparoscopic (key hole) surgery, depending on the position of the testicle. Once the testicle has been moved down to the correct position, the passage is closed to stop the testicle moving back up into the abdomen. 

An Orchidopexy is performed as a day case so your child will be able to go home once they have met discharge criteria.
