Mr Ahmed is a substantive Consultant ENT, Head & Neck and Thyroid Surgeon at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust. He provides expert assessment and treatment for a wide range of ear, nose and throat conditions, with specialist expertise in thyroid, parathyroid and head and neck surgery.

Having completed advanced fellowship training at both University College London Hospitals (UCLH) and Liverpool University Hospitals. Mr Ahmed offers evidence-based, patient-centred care using the latest surgical techniques, including minimally invasive, LASER and robotic-assisted approaches where appropriate.

Background Information

Mr Omar Ahmed graduated from Alexandria University Medical School in 2011 and completed his specialist ENT training at Alexandria Main University Hospital which is one of the largest tertiary centres. Following his move to the UK, he joined East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust, where he worked as a Specialty Doctor before undertaking advanced fellowship training in Head and Neck Surgery.

He completed a Head and Neck Oncology Fellowship training at University College London Hospitals (UCLH), one of the UK's leading tertiary referral centres for head and neck cancer in central London, where he gained extensive experience in the management of complex benign and malignant head and neck conditions. He subsequently completed a Senior Post-CCT Fellowship role in Head and Neck and Thyroid Surgery at Liverpool University Hospitals, further developing his expertise in endocrine surgery and advanced head and neck procedures.

Mr Ahmed was appointed as Consultant ENT, Head & Neck and Thyroid Surgeon at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust in 2025.

His clinical practice focuses on comprehensive general adult & paediatric ENT conditions, thyroid and parathyroid disease, neck lumps, salivary gland disorders, laryngeal conditions and head and neck cancer surgery,

Alongside his clinical work, he is actively involved in research, education and surgical training. He has authored several peer-reviewed publications, presented nationally and internationally, and teaches regularly on regional and national training programmes. His doctoral research examines surgical and functional outcomes following parathyroid surgery in different parathyroid gland disorders.

Growing up in a medical family, Mr Ahmed witnessed the profound impact doctors have on people's lives—not only through their clinical expertise but also through the reassurance and confidence they inspire in their patients. These early experiences ignited his passion for medicine and shaped his aspiration to pursue a career dedicated to caring for others.
