What we do

We understand that if your child needs to visit or be admitted into hospital, it can be a worrying time for the whole family.

That’s why we at Spencer Private Hospitals do everything we can to make your child’s stay as stress-free as possible. We work with only the most experienced, friendly private Paediatricians and Children’s Nurses so that you can concentrate on the most important thing for your child — helping them get better.

We provide comprehensive, expert care for children and young people, and our services include both inpatient and outpatient, covering a range of medical and surgical specialties. Children at Spencer Private Hospitals are looked after by specialist staff trained to the highest standards of care. We also have the backup of a full emergency care team.

All of this translates to the ultimate peace of mind for you and your child.

The Children's Team provide a family centered service, meeting the health care needs of children, young people and their families. Our main focus is to provide family-centered care which supports parents and carer's to become as involved as they choose to be in their child’s care and treatment.

Our highly trained staff achieve this through having open and honest discussions with parents about their child whilst respecting each family’s language, cultural, religious, and social needs.

Working with you – keeping you informed

Before your child comes into hospital, we’ll arrange a call with you to go over the upcoming operation. This is called a Pre-Assessment. We will talk with you about your child, what to expect on the day and go over any concerns or questions you may have.

Remember, we are here for you so if you have had your pre-assessment call and have another question, please do get in touch. We are here to make your child time with Spencer Private Hospitals a good experience.

Staying with your child

Most parents and carer's will allocate one responsible adult to stay with their child whilst they are in hospital. We encourage only one parent or carer wherever possible to stay with your child during their time with Spencer. This not only provides reassurance to your child but also reduces what could be anxious waitng times for any additional parents or carer's who may need to wait in our Reception area during the time of operations.

Our friendly nurses will be here to answer any questions you might have and to regularly update you on how things are going with your little one.

All inpatient stays for a child are classed as a Day Case and your child is likely to return home with you the same day. On any rare occasion that your child stays overnight, we have access to a dedicated Child NHS Ward that is on the same hospital site, only a few corridors away from Spencer's Ward. This will be fully explained to you at the pre-assessment discussion.

Food & drink

Fasting instructions for your child will be explained at your pre-assessment discussion.

Once your child has had their procedure and are back on the Spencer Private Hospitals Ward, there will be an option to snack on a child friendly lunch box or some simple biscuits. We keep it simple to ensure the best recovery for your child who may feel a little drowsy and delicate after their operation.
