Mr Siddharth Virani is a fellowship trained upper limb surgeon with a special focus on pathologies of the shoulder, elbow and upper limb. He specializes in the surgical and non-surgical management of upper limb conditions, including rotator cuff tears, frozen shoulder, shoulder and elbow instability, shoulder and elbow arthritis, cubital tunnel and carpal tunnel syndrome, tendon disorders like tennis and golfer’s elbow, and sports-related injuries. He also treats upper limb fractures, tendon injuries and their sequelae. His areas of research interest include bone preservation in shoulder arthroplasty and elbow arthroplasty.

Background Information
Mr Siddharth Virani qualified in 2012 and was trained in Orthopaedic Surgery in Mumbai and the U.K. After successfully completing the FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics) examination, Mr Virani undertook advanced subspecialty training through a series of prestigious Upper Limb fellowships. These included the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust Fellowship, followed by the Epsom and St. Helier NHS Trust & SWLEOC Fellowship - one of the earliest GIRFT-accredited hubs for elective surgery. He then completed his final fellowship at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust in Brighton, a regional GIRFT - accredited centre renowned for its expertise in Elbow Replacement Surgery.
Mr Virani is currently employed as Consultant Trauma and Orthopedic Surgeon with special interest in Upper Limb Surgery at the East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust based at Ashford and Canterbury.
Mr Virani is keenly interested in research with several publications in peer reviewed journals. His fields of interest for research include Bone Preservation in Shoulder Replacements and Elbow Replacement Surgery for trauma. He has a strong interest in quality and service improvement, with published work in peer-reviewed journals focusing on development of tools to evaluate clinical consultations and strategies to enhance trauma list efficiency.
Mr Virani also has an interest in teaching and is a GMC accredited educational supervisor and also runs the department's journal club.
