Background Information

Brought up in the Herne Bay and East Kent area, Mr Lau qualified from medical school at Edinburgh University in 2001, where he obtained first-class honours in his intercalated degree.

Mr Lau’s basic surgical training took place at St. Barts and the Royal London Hospitals, before being appointed as a trauma fellow at the Royal London Hospital.

Mr Lau completed his higher surgical training on the prestigious South East Thames rotation, gaining his FRCS (Tr & Orth) in 2010. Between 2010 and 2012, Mr Lau trained on the spinal fellowship at the University Hospital of Wales and worked at the Conquest Hospital, Hastings as a spinal fellow.

Publications and Research

Mr Lau has authored and contributed to over 12 research papers in reputable journals, such as Spinal Surgery News and Current Orthopaedics. He covers topics such as back pain treatment, fracture management, and Orthopaedic procedures, contributing positively to the study of spinal surgery.

Interests

Outside of work, Mr Lau spends time with his family and enjoys playing sports, including cycling, fishing, golf, and squash. As well as this, he plays in a band and has a great love of cooking, after a childhood spent helping his parents in the catering industry.
