Background Information
I qualified from B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Nepal in 2000. I came to the UK in 2005 and completed my basic surgical training from Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary, Dumfries, Scotland. I completed a Masters degree in Surgical Sciences with Merit from Imperial College London with a research project and dissertation on Liver Metastasis from Colorectal cancers. I am currently working as Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust since 2017.
I am the lead for the Emergency Surgery and Surgical Emergency Assessment Unit. I have also been appointed as Clinical teacher at Kent and Medway Medical College, Educational Supervisor for King's College London medical students and St George’s University, London. I enjoy teaching undergraduates, surgical trainees and have been faculty for numerous courses. I have been awarded several trust awards for my education role.
I have several presentations in national and international surgical meetings as well as having more than 30 publications in peer-reviewed journals. I have been successfully organising Annual East Kent Surgical Conference (rebranded from William Harvey Surgical Evening), a regional/ national meeting for general surgeons for last 5 years.
I am also a Joint Secretary for Nepalese Doctors’ Association UK. I am actively involved in the NDA UK Academic and Charity programme. I recently organised a very successful annual charity programme in the Leas Cliff Hall Folkestone, Kent, raising funds for autism in Nepal and Kent Autistic Trust, UK.
