Digital Support Technician Apprentice - 13 Month Fixed Term Contract

Salary: Apprentice up to age of 19 or first year if over 19: £12,513.60 per annum (£6.44 per hour )

A fantastic new opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, committed and organised person to complete an IT apprenticeship with a focus on digital applications and working as part of the IT Team at Spencer Private Hospitals. The IT Team provides a high-quality service, which is the first point of contact for all staff within the organisation and working alongside our collaborative Service Desk provision with our local NHS Trust.

The successful applicant will receive training and support with a view to completing the Digital Support Technician Apprenticeship course with an external provider which would make up 20% of the job role.

The Apprentice would be expected to be flexible, alter activities and priorities as the need arises and handle all client requests for assistance in a responsive, professional and customer-oriented manner.

The successful candidate will be guided through the Apprenticeship course throughout the length of the 13 month fixed term contract, on a distance learning basis with an external training provider. Following successful completion of the course, the Apprentice will be offered a permanent role within the IT Team reporting to the IT/IG Operations Manager.

It is expected that this role can be executed on a Hybrid working model with a number of days per week being Remote but the successful candidate must be able to provide on-site support when required, potentially at short notice, across sites in East Kent including Margate, Ashford, Canterbury and Betteshanger.

This role will support operations within the IT Team at SPH by offering a mixture of face to face and remote support to end users with a particular focus on digital applications. The successful candidate will ensure smooth running of the portfolio of applications that the business utilises, including a host of NHS managed ones. It is vital that the successful candidate is a team player and willing to “roll their sleeves up” to ensure the integrity of our systems and to provide a first-class service to end users and colleagues, including that of the NHS.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSE or Equivalent including English and Maths to Grade C or above
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office
  • A good understanding of IT, operating systems and applications including MS Windows and Office products, computers and related devices
  • Willing to undergo training as required
  • Understands confidentiality
  • Ability work flexibly on site and working remotely
  • A good understanding of digital applications
  • Team Player
  • Must be self motivated
  • Excellent verbal and telephone communication skills
  • Excellent timekeeping and organisational skills
